Edificio Central del Banco de Bilbao

El edificio del Banco de Bilbao (entidad bancaria integrada actualmente en el BBVA) se encuentra en el n.º 16 de la calle de Alcalá de Madrid (España). Fue proyectado en 1919 por el arquitecto Ricardo Bastida y Bilbao y construido entre 1920 y 1923. Durante la segunda mitad del siglo XX experimentó varias ampliaciones, lo que permitió extender su fachada por la calle Sevilla. Tiene un total de casi 18 000 m² de superficie. La antigua sede del Banco de Bilbao constituye uno de los edificios más representativos del Madrid financiero, así como uno de los más importantes de la época. Desde 1999 es un bien de interés cultural.

The building of the Banco de Bilbao (currently integrated in the BBVA Bank) is in the No. 16 of calle de Alcala in Madrid (Spain). It was designed in 1919 by the architect Ricardo Bastida and Bilbao and built between 1920 and 1923. During the second half of the 20th century it underwent several extensions, which enabled to extend its facade by calle Sevilla. It has a total of almost 18 000 m² of floor space. The former headquarters of the Banco de Bilbao is one of the most representative buildings of the Madrid financial, as well as one of the most important of the season. Since 1999 it is an asset of cultural interest.
